Arlington National Cemetery is the most prestigious military cemetery in the United States, established in 1864 on the former estate of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. More than 400,000 active-duty service members, veterans, and their immediate family members are buried here. The cemetery hosts over four million visitors annually and is the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
