Bellefontaine Cemetery, established in 1849, is one of the premier Victorian garden cemeteries in the United States. Its 314 acres of rolling hills and scenic roads contain an extraordinary collection of funerary art and architecture from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The cemetery served as the primary burial ground for St. Louis's most prominent families for over 150 years.
