Glendale Cemetery

Glendale Cemetery, established in 1851, is one of the oldest cemeteries in Iowa and has served as the primary burial ground for Des Moines since the territorial period. The cemetery spans over 100 acres and contains the graves of Civil War veterans, Iowa governors, and thousands of ordinary Iowans whose lives shaped the state. It remains an active cemetery to this day.
