Golden Gate National Cemetery was established in 1941 to serve the burial needs of veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area. The cemetery contains over 135,000 graves of veterans from World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and other conflicts. Its well-maintained grounds and ocean views make it one of the most striking national cemeteries in the country.
