Magnolia Cemetery, established in 1850, is a National Historic Landmark on the banks of the Cooper River in Charleston. The 181-acre rural cemetery contains the graves of thousands of Confederate soldiers and numerous notable South Carolinians. Its landscape features tidal lakes, ancient magnolias, and an outstanding collection of Victorian funerary art and architecture.
