Sleepy Hollow Cemetery

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord is famous as the burial place of the great American authors and thinkers of the Transcendentalist movement. Laid out by landscape gardener Horace William Shaler Cleveland in 1855, the cemetery features Authors' Ridge, where Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, and Nathaniel Hawthorne are buried. The site draws literary pilgrims from around the world.
